The escalation of the Pak-Afghan dispute into a direct war over cross-border terrorism is a tragedy whose burden will fall mainly on the poor masses on both sides of the Durand Line, particularly Pashtuns, and it is the outcome of decades of policies by US imperialism, Gulf monarchies, and regional states including Pakistan.
